چکیده

Mohs micrographic surgery, which yields 100% clear tumor margins and smaller defect sizes compared to excision, has yet be implemented in Pakistan. Spearheading surgery Pakistan can lead lower recurrence rates, sizes, greater precision than excision. We present a clinical-epidemiologic descriptive analysis of the first surgeries conducted Clinical, epidemiologic, surgical data dates from Sept. 2021 Dec. 2022 at Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Rawalpindi, A board certified surgeon workshop on procedural requirements HFH. Four patients with biopsy-proven basal cell carcinoma squamous were selected using Appropriate Use Criteria consented (n=4). Two local city Rawalpindi. One patient was rural Murree (80km HFH) one Hassanabdal (60km HFH). Tumors ranged 8mm 80mm all located head neck. Geographic financial constraints recognized as barriers treatment (100%). All expressed concerns about large size associated traditional excision At year follow-up cases 2021, there no recurrence. Introducing shows potential for improved skin cancer cosmetically sensitive areas, demonstrated by small lack Implementing particularly tertiary hospitals, improve access dermatologic care across entire province, geographic scope this study. Lack physical integration dermatology pathology spaces within healthcare facilities poses barrier implementation substantial transit time is currently required tissue analysis. Mohs micrographic surgery.

Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is a specialized type of minimal marginal surgery that offers cure rates superior to other options in the treatment of contiguous skin cancers in selected settings. Developed by Dr. Frederic E. Mohs, the technique originally required in situ tissue fixation before excision. Most Mohs micrographic surgeons now use the fresh tissue technique exclusively. Horizontal...

Immunostaining in Mohs micrographic surgery: a review.

BACKGROUND With the advent of incorporating the immunoperoxidase staining technique into the processing of frozen tissue, the use of Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) has been expanded to include several high-risk tumors such as lentigo maligna, malignant melanoma, and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. OBJECTIVES To thoroughly review the English medical literature pertaining to the use of immuno...

Cost analysis: Mohs micrographic surgery.

BACKGROUND With the continuing increase in the incidence of skin cancer, delivery of cost-efficient skin cancer treatment is a top priority. OBJECTIVE To compare costs associated with removal of skin cancers using Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) with that using standard surgical excision (SSE) with frozen or permanent margin control in the office or an ambulatory surgery center (ASC). METHO...

Double-Bladed Scalpel in Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Mohs micrographic surgery is a tissue-sparing technique that allows for excision of cutaneous tumors under complete microscopic margins control. Mohs surgery boasts high cure rates and maximum tissue conservation. We introduce the double-blade scalpel in Mohs surgery as a timesaving and easy way to harvest tissue strips of uniform width and therefore increase the intraoperative efficiency of th...

Imaging of Mohs micrographic surgery sections using full-field optical coherence tomography: a pilot study.

BACKGROUND Full-field optical coherence tomography (FF-OCT) is a new noninvasive imaging technique that can see down to the cellular level without tissue preparation or contrast agents. OBJECTIVE To use FF-OCT to image Mohs micrographic surgery specimens and verify the ability of a dermatopathologist to identify or exclude malignancy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Two Mohs surgeons supplied 18 Mohs...
